Teaching at secondary school, and learning how to put nervous people at ease.
45+pupils passed since Feb 2025
Former drama teacher, now Scarborough’s calm, patient and properly funny driving instructor.
Before teaching people to drive, Chris taught drama at secondary school. One of his drama pupils from nearly 20 years ago has since passed her driving test with him.
Lessons are calm, patient and full of laughs. Pupils say the time flies, and plenty admit they miss their lessons once they've passed.

Set up Maximum Effort Driving Tuition, his own driving school in Scarborough.
Joey becomes the first pupil to pass, with only a tiny number of minors.
Many first time, from total beginners to drivers who'd given up elsewhere.
A brilliant teacher then and a great instructor now.
Reassuring, compassionate and a very good teacher.
Tests in Scarborough often start at 7.03am. Chris will happily do a 6am warm-up lesson first, and plenty of his pupils have passed before most people have had breakfast.
Weekend tests too: Chloe passed on a Saturday and Bertie on a Sunday morning.
